Oregon Car Crash Fatalities Down
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, fatal car accidents in Oregon were down in 2010 by 13% from the previous year. ODOT fixes the number of fatal vehicle accidents statewide at 325 in 2010. While ODOT correctly points out, any car accident fatality is one too many, 2010 marked the lowest number of traffic accident fatalities since 1944.ODOT attributes the lower tally to improvements in road design and traffic management techniques, the availability and skill of emergency responders and an increased responsibility in Oregon drivers.
Oregon drivers can lower the chances that they will be involved a car accident by remembering a few basic safety tips:

- Obey the speed limit;
- Buckle up. Seat belts prevent serious injuries more than any other safety measure available;
- Stay alert and pay attention. Watch the road and other drivers;
- Don't use a hand held cell phone for talking or texting while driving;
- Make sure young drivers in your family take a formal driver's education course.
