What is an FTCA Claim?

An FTCA, also known as the “Federal Tort Claims Act,” is essentially a federal statute that permits a private party to sue the federal government. Those injured by medical mistakes that occur in the VA Hospital system must first exhaust the Administrative Claims process, which allows the government to evaluate any FTCA claim before a lawsuit may be filed.
